Langsfords Preserves produce handmade award-winning preserves, using traditional methods, in small batches. We aim to create original, flavoursome and seasonal preserves. Our products include both traditional and contemporary recipes with gentle blends that fall somewhere in between.

On Sunday 03rd June we were in our usual spot at the Frome Independent Market, within the Somerset Farmers Market area but our usual offerings had a slight twist. Dawn has been raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support following the terminal lung cancer diagnosis of her father, Richard, last year. Sadly Rich passed away in October but the fund-raising has continued and we thought that Langsford's Preserves would be a good way...

Now we are not saying that we are bad at self publicity but... 

We were really honoured to claim this wonderful title in August 2017 and it's taken us this long to tell anyone about it. 

Unfortunately, we couldn't be at the ceremony due to a family bereavment but we hear that it was a great day so bring on 2018!

The results were posted today for the 2017 Taste of the West Awards and we are thrilled to have won a Gold Medal for our Chuckleberry Jam. We have been making it for a little while now but this is the first time we have entered it into a tasting event. We are very happy....and well done to all the producers who have won awards!

Thus is the pendulum of unpredictabililty ever swinging and the year of 2017 will probably see a large fall in soft and top fruit crops compared to 2016 due to the unfavourable weather over the last couple of months. 2016 of course was a great year for fruit and we saw our blackcurrant bushes bursting with dark berries as well as our friends soft fruit bushes and strawberry plants (again thank you for letting us have your exce...

We are currently trialling recipes for shallots in chilli infused cider vinegar and it is beginning to get a bit warm. Some people have trained their mouths/oseophagus/taste buds to handle the heat from chillies but i'm not one of them i'm afraid. 

What we are trying to achieve is a balance so that the great taste of the pickled shallot is still apparent but the kick of chilli will be a great treat for those that like...

Recognition counts for a lot when you are a small food producer so finding supporters of your products is always nice. Taste of the West champion food and drink producers in the South West of England and winning an award from them is an indication that you are doing something right (learn more about Taste of the West here).
